Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by advancing a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily by using feet, but players can also use any part of their bodies except their arms and hands. The game is characterized by its dynamic nature, where players aim to maintain possession of the ball, create scoring opportunities, and defend against their opponents.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which dictate aspects of play such as fouls, offside positions, and methods of scoring. Matches are typically played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. The game itself consists of two halves, usually lasting 45 minutes each, with a halftime break.

Football has various forms, including association football (commonly referred to as soccer in some countries), American football, and rugby football, among others. It is one of the most popular sports globally, with a vast following and numerous professional leagues and competitions, including international tournaments like the FIFA World Cup.
