Premier League

The Premier League is the top professional football (soccer) league in England. Established in 1992, it is contested by 20 teams, which compete annually from August to May. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the English Football League (EFL), where the bottom teams are demoted to a lower division and the top teams from the lower division are promoted to the Premier League. Each team plays 38 matches during the season, facing each opponent twice — once at home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion. Points are awarded based on match results: three points for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. The Premier League is known for its high level of competition, international fanbase, and significant financial investments, attracting top talents and coaches from around the world. It is one of the most-watched sports leagues globally, contributing to its status as a premier football competition.
